Our administrators homeschooled their own four children for 24 years, beginning with their first child in kindergarten in 1994 and ending with the graduation of their last child in 2018.

See what Outlook Academy offers you.

Our Mission

In a manner that honors Jesus Christ, we seek to provide legal covering for homeschooling families in Alabama, regardless of religious affiliation, in the most efficient and convenient manner; to support and encourage member families on their homeschool journey; to keep members informed of homeschool legal issues and events; and to promote positive public awareness of home education.

Benefits

Outlook Academy members are eligible to participate in Academy Days Co-op, dual enrollment programs at local universities, several homeschool proms across the state, and the River Region Homeschool Graduation. We also provide driver’s permit forms, offer generous discounts in HSLDA and Academy Days Co-op, and relay timely homeschool news and events via our Facebook page and a monthly e-newsletter. Perhaps most important for some families, parents can email or talk with someone who has “been there, done that” with her own children, has published two books on the subject, and has helped Alabama homeschoolers since 1994.

Requirements

Outlook Academy requires only what the state requires: an annual Church School Enrollment Form and an annual Attendance Report. Outlook Academy does not require HSLDA membership, church membership, a statement of faith, teacher certification, or child immunization. After enrollment, Outlook Academy does not mandate a curriculum review, required subjects, testing, report cards, progress reports, annual meetings, or minimum days of attendance or hours of instruction. You are exempt from any regulatory requirements, other than attendance. You have complete freedom to teach your children what and how you think they should be taught.

Fees

Our fees are per family per year, not per child nor per month, and have never increased. Fees and discounts are listed on the forms. We cannot accept monthly payments or postdated checks. Also, fees are not prorated and are non-refundable. We spend the same amount of time assisting a family’s enrollment in the summer as we do in fall, winter, or spring. Indeed, mid-year enrollments actually require our immediate attention and take us temporarily away from other homeschool responsibilities. Therefore, prayerfully consider your decision to homeschool through Outlook Academy before you begin the enrollment process.
